To Whom It May Concern,
Suzoo’s Wool Works is a fiber arts business and yarn shop that was located in Costa Mesa, California from 2004-2014. As owner I was blessed to have an assistant, Catherine Canann. Catherine helped with customer service, product management and sample making. She assisted in daytime classes, as needed, taking instruction quite well. Catherine is one of those bright stars who shows up smiling which earned her several compliments from my customers.
Catherine has the ability to think outside the box. She helped me develop classes that would appeal to kids and adults alike. Her enthusiasm was contagious and still is. I can recommend Catherine as a devoted student, hard working employee and gentle teacher.
I am honored to have Catherine still in my fiber arts world even though I have since moved the business to Bandera, Texas. Her travels and hands-on learning have inspired me to look at the wool industry and the fiber arts community worldwide. She is an outspoken advocate for kinesthetic and tactile learning which is often ignored to appeal to the mainstream system of educating. I am a firm believer that you learn by doing. Catherine is a graduate of this philosophy and has the auditory and visual learning to back it up.
Should Catherine relocate to the Hill Country, she knows she has a place with Suzoo’s Wool Works & The Sheepwalk!
Catherine has an infectious optimistic attitude towards life. Because she feels anything is possible, it makes people around her believe that as well. It’s part of how Catherine contributes to the world, making it a better place with her energy and enthusiasm.
I’ve known Catherine since she was a girl and she’s always been a serious person, but somebody who knows how to have fun as well. I was impressed with her drive to achieve success on her own terms, however she defined that. As a home-schooler, she has the opportunity to set her own workload, and she is serious about learning and educating herself. When she enrolled in Junior Lifeguards, she campaigned to be in a group of life guards that had a more demanding training schedule and she still succeeded.
Catherine is doing hard things, to quote John F. Kennedy, “not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win…”
I enjoy the time I get to spend with Catherine and I'm sure you would too.
a certified industry figure since 1996
Wise beyond her years, Catherine is naturally gifted at connecting with people. She has the capacity to be endearing, sincere, straight and deep — instantly earning trust and confidence. She would be a brilliant Marketer, Singer, Activist, Advocate, Academic. As long as her work is allied with her passions, she will win a ground swell of support, unequivocally! She has the ability to listen like a Therapist, to care like a Mother and to inspire like the best Keynote speakers.
Personally, I’ve been through very challenging times with Catherine and I know from those experiences that she is nothing like the typical millennial! She has self-reliance, street smarts, she is intrinsically motivated, versatile, naturally curious and always game for a new challenge that blasts her past the status quo. I can’t see Catherine working at a stifling office job, she requires complexity that broadens her understanding of the world and she takes those lessons in tenaciously.
Catherine is a treasured friend and I feel fortunate to have her in my inner circle.
Catherine is the most dedicated student of life I've met. She exudes grace and love and passion in everything she does. I love listening to her sing. She loves all her animals. I enjoy every moment I get to spend with this bright young lady. She's funny and interesting.
