January, 2017 - February, 2017 Paonia, Colorado ANTI-FRACKING ACTIVISM
This winter I am interning with a grassroots activist group in the North Fork Valley. I will be working directly on actions and organizing to limit or delay the incursion of fracking and increased mining activity here in the valley. I will be working to enact legislation to prevent new oil and gas companies from profiting off our public hiking grounds and beautiful forests and deserts.
November, 2016 - February, 2017Paonia, Colorado HUCK
Some people might write off dedicated child care as “just babysitting” and not consider it the equivalent of an internship in a non-domestic field. I find that child care requires a lot of focus, patience, dedication, presence, and perseverance that stretches and changes me. It is an honor and a privilege to witness and learn from Marian's skill, wisdom and love for her child, as a mother, backpacker, teacher, skier, and outdoor educator.
November, 2016 - February, 2017Paonia, Colorado GOATS
Milking goats and assisting with their care has been a nourishing part of my life while living off the grid in Colorado. I’ve learned how important it is to create a relationship and spend time with the goats before actually getting them on the milk stand and milking. I’ve also learned that different goats have different personalities and require different levels of attention and commitment when caring for them and their unique needs. Some will just let me squirt raw goat milk into my friends' mouths where others might not even agree to getting on the milk stand. It's always a delight and an adventure to be with goats.
June, 2014 - whenever I'm home Newport Beach, California PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
At the Gourmet Detective interactive murder mystery dinner show, I've learned about how important the details can be - from the guest and meal lists being in order to the tables being set up correctly to proper prop and costume care. I've learned how as a producer it is your job to make sure everyone feels prepared and confident to play their role, whatever it is.
2009 - 2014 Costa Mesa, California FIBER ARTS
At Suzoo’s Woolworks, I learned how to knit, crochet, spin, needle felt, wet felt and more. I assisted owner Jennifer Nimmrichter in the shop, as well as at fiber arts demos and fairs. Jennifer inspired me not only by her teaching but by the beauty, grace, hard work, time and energy she puts into running a small business she is passionate about.
